The journey of ECCE CALIGAE began in 2020, when Tad Boszak began reading Julius Caesar's book The Battle for Gaul.  How, Tad wondered, had those men marched 40 and 50 miles at a time?!  What footwear allowed them to perform such an incredible physical feat without turning their poor feet into hamburger?  In short, it was a centuries old design that provided the protection of a hiking boot, with the weight of a sandal, made possible by a series of neat leather straps that conformed to each man's foot, permitting an unparalleled custom fit and level of comfort.   It was an amazing and proven design, worn for more than 500 years by the Legions of Rome in Israel and Egypt, through the alps of Italy and Spain, and all the way across France and Britain too!  Today, you can enjoy the same dynamic design with this newly patented barefoot hiking boot, each pair made with supple 5-oz oil tanned leather and featuring glove leather lined cloud foam insoles, and Vibram Olympic outsoles - to conquer the world!
